Who says you only have to buy loved ones (and yourself) gifts at Christmas, how about a useful shopping spree this January? Our designer Jade is a huge fan of supporting small businesses, and wants to go practical and motivational this new year. Here's her wish list...
I'm not sure there's anything I love more than lounge wear and hot water bottles, so I'm Fine Attire's heat pack pocket leggings are the perfect combo. I can be comfortable, and put my hot water bottle or heat pad inside my convenient pouch to help ease my hip/pelvic pain. I'm Fine Attire has so many amazing pieces that are tailored around helping disabled women.
I'm a little bit obsessed with TikTok, and if you are as addicted as I am, you'll know exactly what a "No Bones Day" is! I started using the phrases "No Bones Day" and "Bones Day" to describe how my physical health was that day, and it really helped. I found people my age understood the physical situation I was in and it instantly made them smile despite the topic of conversation. My friends started using it as a way to track my conditions and how they were affecting me on different days, which made me feel amazing and let's be honest, who doesn't love pugs? I fell in love with these stickers the second I saw them, you can get them from small business The Little Egg Studio on Etsy.
Managing multiple jobs and attempting to juggle every day activities like cleaning, shopping, sending emails and everything else as a disabled woman is very difficult. Especially when your mental health makes you disorganised, like me! I found these weekly note pads invaluable this year. They help me break to-do lists down into manageable chunks, track appointments, water intake and much more. Plus, they're cute, recyclable and great for people like me who can't commit to adulting properly. I found this super cool one from The Urban Ponytail on Etsy that I just fell in love with.
I'm terrible with money and saving, always have been, probably always will be. But over the years I've found it much easier to save and budget when using cash. Something just clicks in my head when I can see and spend the physical money. These Saver Binders have become really popular this year, and after getting one myself, I can see why! They've made budgeting and managing my money fun and enjoyable, not stressful and overwhelming. You can get them personalised and in almost every colour imaginable, with customisable envelopes for you and your budget needs. Small shop Made By Sarah Mary on Etsy has a huge range of colours and font styles to please everyone, and they make the most practical gift!
It’s been a long year, which has negatively impacted my health, my skin and hair in particular. After contracting covid, and struggling with both my mental and physical health, I started suffering with really bad breakouts, blotchiness, split ends, itchy scalp, dry skin, you name it, my appearance took a big hit. Which really affected my anxiety, I just didn't want to leave the house. Then a friend suggested I get a Satin Pillow Case. I thought, how could this make that much difference? But it really does! My hair feels much better, no more static, and less split ends. My skin also feels better, not having course fibre rubbing against my already sore face really helped with my acne and splitting skin. I recommend everyone gets one now!
Speaking of satin being good for your hair, these Satin Scrunchies from Thats Sew Gem are perfect for tying your hair up for bed, or for that stylish everyday messy bun we all dream of accomplishing; without tearing out and breaking your hair, like you would with a regular hair band.
Last, but certainly not least, Candy Kittens!! You've got to have a sweet treat on your list haven't you?! Vegan/vegetarian sweets (that actually taste good!) are hard to come by, but Candy Kittens have smashed it! I can't decide which flavour is my favourite, I just love them all! The perfect and delicious gift for your vegan friends.
